Forest Goddess Fiber Art Sculpture
From the woodlands, the Forest Goddess helps to keep balance. She is adorned with green kyanite and smoky quartz stones. The kyanite promotes clarity and keeps her connection to her heart and the heart of the forest open, as well as bestows a sense of peace. The smoky quartz keep her grounded and connected to the earth and helps to serve as a sort of filter for negative energies. She wears a shawl of feathery mohair that hints at mosses and lichens. In her arms, she embraces usnea, collected from fallen branches from the last storm, which keeps her safe during her travels and reminds of the symbiosis of beings. On her back is a warm earthy sun that is also a pocket where she keeps precious treasures.
The Forest Goddess was hand crocheted with thick wool yarn and felted three times. The shawl and usnea are made out of a feathery mohair blend. There is a green kyanite stone displayed as a necklace, and a smoky quartz stone stitched within the center of the spiral. The back part of her lower half is a pocket, which serves to hide the stitching on the front and also to carry small treasures in. She is hung by a found wood from the woodlands in Maine that is slightly reminescent of the Norse runic symbol Algiz, a symbol of protection.
She is 29" tall from hair tip to tail.
She was created by hand on the edge of the Maine woodlands.
